Kathryn Bigelow: Appena Prima dell'onda

It is with great pleasure that I introduce another book from the feminist comic series titled "Kathryn Bigelow: Just Before the Wave." This book is the result of my collaboration with the Anonima Fumetti association in Turin, Italy. This time, I personally handled all stages of the work, from storyboarding and design to coloring and even creating the book cover. This project was a new and educational experience for me in the field of comic design, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

This graphic novel centers on an American cinema heroine who becomes a film director, a field long dominated by men, thanks to her extraordinary talent. Originally a painter, she moves from San Francisco to New York after winning a prestigious study program. Known for her reserved nature, she revealed little about her personal life, including her brief marriage to James Cameron. Her breakthrough film, “Point Break” (1991), established her style—a blend of tight visual rhythm and a gripping exploration of order versus chaos. Her later work, such as “Detroit” (2017), used vivid storytelling to expose cultural and social injustices, making her career a powerful portrayal of rebellion and violence in American society.
