Destitution

I previously illustrated Anton Chekhov’s Sorrow in its entirety across 300 frames, but in a much more fantastical and colorful approach. Recently, I have developed a deep emotional connection with the world of Dostoevsky; his dark, heavy scenes constantly pass through my mind. This frame is inspired by one of the scenes from Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
The initial sketch of this piece came to my mind at a moment when I had no access to my sketchbook or tablet. As a result, I drew it on the first piece of paper I could find, and eventually executed the final work in Photoshop.
